What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores in your browser. Your browser sends it back with each request to the same site, which lets the site recognise you from one page to the next, for example to keep you signed in.
Sighted (sightedby.ai) is an AI shopping readiness platform for ecommerce merchants, operated from the United Kingdom. We follow the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR). PECR requires your consent before we store anything in your browser that is not strictly necessary to provide the service you asked for.
This policy lists every cookie Sighted sets, what each one does, how long it lasts and how you control it. It replaces the cookie section of our Privacy Policy in detail. The Privacy Policy covers everything else about how we handle your personal data.
The cookies Sighted sets
The cookies below are necessary. They keep you signed in, record your cookie choice, or complete a flow you started, such as installing the Shopify app. We set them without asking for consent, as PECR allows, and they cannot be switched off from the banner. Each one is set by Sighted on sightedby.ai and is not shared with any other company.
The sign-in cookies are first-party cookies: they belong to sightedby.ai and are read only by Sighted.
Cookies marked HttpOnly cannot be read by scripts running in the page, which protects them from being copied by a script that should not have them.

Analytics cookies and your choice
Sighted uses Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages are read. For visitors in the UK and the European Economic Area the service is provided by Google Ireland Limited. These cookies are optional, and we set them only with your consent.
When you first visit sightedby.ai you see a cookie banner with two choices, Accept and Reject. If you press Accept, the Google Analytics script loads and the cookies below are set. If you press Reject, or make no choice, no Google script loads and none of these cookies are set. Your choice is stored in the sighted_consent cookie for 12 months.
Sighted loads Google Analytics with Google Consent Mode. Analytics storage starts in the denied state and is granted only after you press Accept. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store your IP address.
You can change your mind at any time. The Cookie settings link in the footer of every page shows the banner again, and choosing Reject stops the analytics cookies being set from then on. You can also delete the cookies already stored from your browser settings, and you can block Google Analytics in every browser you use with Google's opt-out browser add-on at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Analytics data may be transferred to Google LLC in the United States. That transfer is covered by Google's standard contractual clauses, as UK GDPR requires.

Local storage
Besides cookies, the Sighted dashboard keeps two small values in your browser's local storage. Local storage is not a cookie: your browser never sends it to Sighted or to anyone else. It stays on your device until you clear your browser data.
sighted:activeProcess remembers which background job, such as a scan or an export, the dashboard is currently showing you progress for. sighted_upgrade_return remembers which page to return you to after you change plan. Both exist only to keep your place in the app.
The Sighted app embedded inside the Shopify admin runs with no storage at all: it sets no cookies and writes nothing to local storage.
Third parties
Google Analytics, described above, is the only third party that sets a cookie on sightedby.ai, and only after you press Accept.
Stripe handles payment for accounts that do not pay through Shopify. Checkout happens on Stripe's own pages, not on sightedby.ai, so Stripe sets no cookies on our site. Stripe's own cookie policy applies on its pages.
Shopify stores that install Sighted use it inside the Shopify admin. Any cookies on that screen belong to Shopify and are governed by Shopify's cookie policy. Sighted sets none there.
Sighted sets no advertising cookies, runs no social media pixels and uses no session replay tools.
Managing cookies in your browser
Every browser lets you see the cookies a site has stored, delete them, and block a site from setting more. The setting is usually under Privacy or Site data in the browser's preferences, and the browser's own help pages explain where. If you block the necessary cookies listed above, you will not be able to sign in to Sighted, because the app has no other way to recognise you between pages.
Changes to this policy
We update this policy when the cookies we set change, for example if we add a tool that stores something in your browser or stop using one. Each change updates the date at the top of this page. If a change means we need your consent for something new, the cookie banner asks for it again.
