Get your products into Google AI Mode and AI Overviews
Google's AI answers take their product facts from Merchant Center, from the Schema.org markup on your pages and from the pages themselves. Most stores are strong in one of the three and thin in the other two.
Where Google's AI answers get their products
AI Mode and AI Overviews sit on Google's shopping graph: the listings Merchant Center holds, the Product markup Google reads across the web, and the page text around it. A product with a full Merchant Center listing and matching markup on its page can be shown with its price, stock and attributes in the answer. Googlebot reads the pages for both, as for ordinary search; Google-Extended is a separate token for Gemini training and grounding, and blocking it does not affect Google Search, AI Mode included.
What to do
Fill every Merchant Center attribute your category defines, with values from Google's own lists, and treat the optional ones as the ones that matter. Put Product and Offer markup on every product page with the same price, availability and identifiers as the feed. Check robots.txt lets Googlebot reach your product pages, and decide Google-Extended on purpose: it governs Gemini training and grounding, not AI Mode.
What Sighted does
Sighted scores your products against Google Shopping's guidance, maps each attribute it writes to the standard value Google and Shopify both recognise, and publishes a hosted Merchant Center feed in CSV and JSON along with per-product Schema.org JSON-LD for your pages. Gemini, which reads the same data, is one of the assistants Sighted checks on every scheduled run.
