Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO)
Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO) is the umbrella term for getting generative AI to draw on your content and cite it. For a store, almost all of it is product data.
What GEO means for a store
Generative Engine Optimisation covers whatever makes ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini or Google's AI Overviews use your content in an answer. For a publisher that means passages and sources. For an online store the answer is a recommendation and the content is product data: the feeds, the product pages and the structured data on them.
GEO, AEO and SEO
SEO is the position on a results page. AEO is the mention in the answer. GEO is the wider word the industry settled on for AEO and its publishing cousins, and the vendors still argue about where one ends. For a store the argument does not matter much; the job is the same under any of the three names, which is complete, consistent product data in every place an assistant looks.
What Sighted does
Sighted does the store's share of GEO. It scores the data, fills the gaps from your own facts, publishes to the channels and counts the mentions, and it leaves the blog posts to you.
