Shopify Standard Product Taxonomy
Shopify's Standard Product Taxonomy defines categories and, for each one, the attributes a product can carry and the values they take. A dress's silhouette is Sheath, whatever your product page calls it.
Why the category attributes matter
The taxonomy's attributes are what Shopify passes to its channels, Shopify Catalog (which ChatGPT, Copilot and Gemini read) and Google among them. A product with its category attributes filled in standard values travels with those facts. A product with the facts only in its description travels without them. Check both: a product can carry the right category while every attribute that category offers sits empty.
What Sighted does
Sighted writes the category attributes from your own data and maps every value to the taxonomy's closest standard one. A column dress becomes Sheath; a real fact with no close value becomes Other; a fact Shopify has no field for goes into a Sighted attribute rather than being dropped. The mapping is published and tested, and approved values are written back to your Shopify products.
