Agentic Commerce Protocol (ACP)
The Agentic Commerce Protocol (ACP) is OpenAI's and Stripe's open standard for how an AI agent finds a product, builds a cart and completes a purchase with a merchant, while the merchant stays the seller of record.
The three parts of ACP
The Agentic Commerce Protocol, published by OpenAI with Stripe, has three parts: a product feed the agent reads, a checkout flow the agent drives against the merchant's own systems, and a payment handoff that keeps the merchant as the seller of record. The feed part is the ChatGPT product feed. The checkout part is what lets an assistant finish a purchase inside the conversation where a merchant has switched that on; OpenAI deprioritised that Instant Checkout in March 2026 and put its weight on product discovery.
What it needs from you
The feed, before anything else, since an agent cannot buy what it cannot read. Then stable identifiers, a price and availability that are right today, and a return policy the agent can show the shopper. Checkout is a separate integration you can opt into later; discovery you need now.
What Sighted does
Sighted builds the discovery half: a product file to OpenAI's specification for approved partners, and the Merchant Center feed OpenAI also accepts, with the attributes and the questions and answers that make a product matchable. Checkout stays with your store and your payment provider.
